About Me
Bonjour! And warm welcome to Wandering Weightlessly! I'm Heather, and if you've ever thought that incredible travel experiences were just out of reach because of your body, your finances, your mobility, your family, or your lifestyle, then you've found your people.
There was a time I almost believed that too. When I made the choice to become a single mom by choice and entered the world of foster care, I thought my becoming a mother would cost me ability to travel - I thought I had to choose a path because solo parent & world traveler couldn't possibly co-exist, right?
But oh, how beautifully wrong I was!
What I discovered is that life’s most wonderful journeys often begin when you rewrite the map. As a plus-size woman who navigates the world with limited mobility, and as someone proudly living a sober life, and a passionately frugal traveler (living a joyful, debt-free life is my jam!), I’ve learned that adventure doesn’t have a "one size fits all" label. It’s about finding your fit. And when my now adopted son joined my life, that desire to explore didn’t shrink – it exploded into a mission to show them the world, and to show the world that families like ours, individuals like me, belong everywhere.
My Mission: Proving Travel IS For Every BODY & You CAN Have It All
This is where my heart truly lies and what this website is all about: specializing in accessible travel. I'm living proof that you don’t have to choose. You can be a devoted mom, live soberly, embrace your beautiful plus-size body, navigate mobility challenges, and explore this incredible planet.
Through my own experiences – the triumphs, the learning curves, the meticulously planned routes, and the spontaneous joys – I want to empower YOU to:
-
See the world comfortably and confidently, no matter your size or mobility.
-

You can too. So, stick around, explore the resources, share your stories, and let's redefine what it means to be a traveler.

With joy and wanderlust,
Heather Ann
